Who? ICOMOS Sweden What? Visit to Stockholm Olympic Stadium This is the main arena for the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912. It is said to be the oldest Olympic arena still in use. The stadium was designed by the architect Torben Grut and built on a classical arena layout in a medieval style, in handmade, dark red bricks. Since 1912 it has hosted a variety of events, including the European Athletics Championships, and the Olympic Equestrian Event for the 1956 games in Melbourne, due to quarantine laws in Australia. A total of 87 world records have been set in the arena. Today it is also used for concerts and other events. When? 18 April 2016 Where?
