Pilot Project Workshop in Oslo, Norway – March 9-11, 2011
Topic: “Our common dignity: Towards Rights-Based World Heritage Management”
The workshop aims to discuss and illustrate how planning and implementation of World Heritage work may benefit from adopting a clearer perspective on the meanings of human rights and entitlements. Grounded in thinking about how to further sustainable development, the World Heritage concept, and concern for the future of the World Heritage Convention, workshop recommendations may contribute to respect for and fulfilment of human rights in activities affecting our world’s common heritage, and a ‘sustainability check’ to strengthen the World Heritage Convention Operational Guidelines.
Organiser: ICOMOS Norway for the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) Oslo University, the Norwegian Helsinki Committee (NHC), and ICOMOS Norway.
In view of the workshop format, the participants are already invited, and include representatives of ICCROM, IUCN and ICOMOS.
