INTERNATIONAL FORUM HERITAGE AND RISKS IN
EUROPE AND IN MEDITERRANEAN
The Mediterranean basin represents a geographical and human region with a
particular identity whose countries and cities share a number of problematic specially the
ones with regard to urban heritage and risks.
It is the reason why two international organizations, UATI (International Union of scientific
and technical associations and organisms, which is a NGO attached to UNESCO) and AVEC
(Alliance of European cultural cities) are preparing an international forum on heritage and
risks in Europe and in Mediterranean.
This event will take place in Marseille (France) on the 10th of December 2013. We reckon at
around 200/ 250 participants.
After the opening ceremony, four sessions are planed:
The first one about international and national policies with UNO (ISDR after the Global
Platform for disaster Risk Reduction in Geneva), UNESCO, ICOMOS, European commission,
French authorities at the national and regional levels
The second one about risks, stakes with a global view (perhaps by ICOMOS) and some
examples from Mediterranean
The third one about the available means: legal, governance, scientific, technical, training,
information
The fourth and last one about conclusions and proposals for the future.
