ICUCH Learning from the Science of the Past to Inform the Science of the Future
ICOMOS Online Side Event in the Framework of the UN Water Conference
Organised by the International Committee on the Underwater Cultural Heritage (ICUCH)
Listening only to the science of thefuture risks forgetting the lessons of the past. Climate change will not onlyaffect the earth’s biodiversity, landscapes and ecosystems, but also havesignificant impacts on humanity with economic, political, cultural, health andidentity implications.
Rising sea levels and storm surges will inundate coastaltowns and heritage on the coastal margins, threatening the very existence ofentire communities.
This session will bring together experts on these themes toexplore various topics that have a major impact on waters, both inland andoffshore, which are critical elements of the 2030 Agenda.
