ICOMOS ISC20C along with Kaunas 2022 Modernizmas ateičiai invites the heritage community to one of the first seminars on “Exploring the Twentieth-Century Historic Thematic Framework in the European context” as a tool for rethinking the global narratives associated with 20th-century heritage. The series of seminars aim to develop the knowledge and broad understanding of 20th-century heritage through presentation and discussion of the historic phenomena that gave rise to new approaches to living and working that shaped the 20th-century built environment. They will also explore the heritage sites all over Europe that represent this history. The seminar in Kaunas is organised by Vaidas Petrulis ISC20C member on the invitation from the ISC20C Bureau and will focus on the topic of “New Nation-states” as a phenomenon of modernizing world. Based on the experience of Kaunas European Capital of Culture, the seminar will debate the role of contemporary interpretations in the process of identifying, understanding, and disseminating this narrative.
