ICOMOS Australia: (Un)Loved Modern Conference 2009 – conserving 20th Century heritage

Website: http://www.aicomos.com/ On behalf of Australia ICOMOS, I would like to invite you to join us at the Australia ICOMOS 2009 (Un)Loved Modern Conference to be held at the Sydney Masonic Centre, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia from 7-10 July 2009. This conference will have broad appeal for all professionals who have an interest in the conservation of 20th century heritage: conservation professionals, government officials, academics and post-graduate students. An innovative program with an array of national and international speakers, all of whom are leaders in their field, will ensure that delegates are exposed to the latest developments and trends in the identification, conservation and management of 20th Century heritage places. It promises to be an excellent educational forum for delegates. EYCH 2018: “Arte, Fede, Memoria dei Luoghi Storico-Religiosi”, International Conference

Organisers: Scuola Grande di San Marco

The conference, promoted by the Scuola Grande di San Marco of Venice, aims to open a
dialogue with institutions and communities at an international level and included in the
dealing with the religious cultural heritage with the aim of working mainly on the future of this
important heritage and on the duties which concern those dealing with the preservation and
appreciation.
The cultural exchange will inclusive of theology, with its numerous facets, the arts, landscape
architecture, the environment as well as economy and cultural aspects intertwined within the
contexts of individual communities. The individual person is central to this investigation.
Indeed, in a rapidly changing world, this cultural heritage plays an ever-growing role for the
person and its position within the community.
There will be key note lectures (lectiones magistrales), invited papers and a round table to
which will participate all the religious and public or private institutions which operate in the
appreciation of convents and monasteries in order that they could all present their respective
experiences, the best practices and projects to share.

ICOMOS – IUCN Nature Culture Journey at the IUCN World Conservation Congress

ICOMOS and IUCN are partnering on a joint Nature-Culture Journey at the 2016 IUCN World Conservation Congress in Honolulu, Hawaii (USA). The Journey will consist of a dedicated track of programming at the Congress’ Forum from September 1-5 focusing on connecting natural and cultural heritage practice. ICOMOS participation is being supported by US/ICOMOS with help from ICOMOS France, ICOMOS Australia and the International Scientific Committees on Pacific Heritage (Pasifika); Polar Heritage (IPHC); Cultural Landscapes (ISCCL); Archeological Heritage Management (ICAHM); Historic Cities and Villages (CIVVIH); Cultural Tourism (ICTC), and Risk Preparedness (ICORP). The quadrennial Congress will bring together thousands of leaders from around the world to advance conservation of the environment and harnessing the solutions nature and culture offer to meeting global challenges.

ICOMOS Serbia – Smederevo Fortress and the Sustainable Tourism for Development of the City of Smederevo

Who? National Committee ICOMOS Serbia, Smederevo Museum What? The celebration of the International Day on Monuments and Sites will be focused on the Smederevo Fortress, a site on the Serbian Tentative list for inscription in the World Heritage List. An expert tour with the conservators from the Regional Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments in Smederevo will be organized in order to comprehend the values and potential of this site. Afterwards a Round table “Smederevo Fortress and the Sustainable Tourism for Development of the City of Smederevo” will be held in the Smederevo Museum, with the representatives of the local authorities and Tourist Organization of Smederevo, but open as well to all other relevant institutions, NGOs and public. 18 April: ICOMOS Albania, Heritage of Sports-sports in antiquity

Organizers-Icomos Albania in collaboration with University of Tirana (Archaeology and Culture heritage department) Short presentation of the event- The event will consist in visiting the new archaeological excavations of the site as well as discussion about the activities and sports in Amantia in ancient times. The event will be held in the 3rd century stadium of the ancient city of Amantia. Note: (The ancient stadium of Amantia was built in the 3rd century BCE. It has 300 places designated for the spectators. The stadium is the best-preserved monument and situated about 150 metros outside of the surrounding walls of the city.
